Have You or Someone Close to You Been Affected by Cancer?

Hospital PictureIn 2001, at 26 years of age, after a year long struggle with my health that had eluded several doctors, I was diagnosed with cancer. During this decline in my health, I lost a total of 68 pounds and was left unable to walk. After 7 rounds of chemotherapy, 6 “blasts” of radiation, and some intense physiotherapy, I made a full recovery some 7 months later.

“It was nothing but your attitude that saved you.”

That was a comment from one of the several doctors who cared for me while I was in the hospital, almost completely bed-ridden for over two months.

Billy's Wedding

  • Yes, at a tremendously young age, I received some of the worst news anyone can hear.
  • Yes, I would have to spend over two months in a hospital bed.
  • Yes, the muscles in my legs would atrophy because of it.
  • Yes, I would have t o learn to walk again.
  • Yes, I would lose a great deal of my sight.
  • Yes, I would lose 68 pounds in the process.

But here’s the good news:

When I was much younger, I was extremely fortunate to have had a great deal of positive influence in my life, and as a result, I was well equipped mentally to deal with this kind of situation. I knew almost nothing about what it took to be physically healthy, but I knew the mind has a great deal of influence on getting what you want out of life. This information would prove to be invaluable after my diagnosis, and my subsequent recovery.

Now
I am convinced this information is responsible for why I am still here today.

For some time after my recovery, I considered filing legal action against the medical professionals whom I believed were in some way responsible for misdiagnosing me several times, leading up to the detour in my health. But ultimately, I couldn’t bring myself to do it. It didn’t seem to make sense to me to file a lawsuit against the very people who helped me recover.

Several years later, during the seemingly endless debate I was having over legal action, it hit me like a bolt of lightning.

What if I could share my experience with others and potentially help people who were going through what I had already gone through?

What if I could somehow turn my experience into something positive?

I made up my mind right there that I would use my experience to somehow bring a positive influence into other peoples lives, and share the information I had been exposed to earlier in my life.

As I started down this path, one question was overwhelmingly dominant in my mind: How do I reach the most people? There are many people who look to the self-help industry for encouraging and enlightening information, but how could I reach an even wider audience?

I wondered: What do most people love and need in their life?

Entertainment…and Fun.

What if I could take the principles I had learned from the self-help industry, and make them entertaining and fun to learn?

That is exactly what I did.

I took the top ten lessons I learned while studying from my mid-teens to my mid-twenties that, in my mind, were responsible for my recovery, and I deliver them in a fun and entertaining way.

I call it:
